The Childnet Digital Leaders Programme aims to inspire and empower young people aged 11-18 years to take the lead in championing positive use of technology in their school or community. Delivered as part of Chlidnet's work as the UK Safer Internet Centre, and with support from Facebook, we have developed an innovative new online community to deliver the programme, which will help create empowered and inspired Digital Leaders. The platform offers:Training: Childnet Digital Leaders will build their skills, expertise and confidence through completing training designed by Childnet’s education team. Using a flipped learning format, they complete an online module (including videos, interactive tasks and quizzes) and then have a follow up team meeting to consolidate their learning and plan next steps. On completion of the seven essential training modules, the Childnet Digital Leaders will be awarded their official badges and schools will be presented with a certificate. In addition, throughout the year, young people will be able to undertake further training, hear from experts in top tech companies and others in the internet safety field, and our expert team at Childnet are always on hand to answer any queries.Collaboration: The platform offers a forum so that Digital Leaders can connect with young people from across the UK and share ideas, inspiration and knowledge.Goal-setting: The platform is a gamified environment which rewards young people with points and badges for completing training and for delivering a range of activities in their school; from educating young people to creating educational resources. Their points contribute to a team score which enters them into the national leaderboard on the platform. Schools subscribe to the programme for 1 or 2 years and are supported throughout this time.
