As smartphones have gained popularity, we've seen a lot of viral videos that criticize our use of the devices. In videos (e.g. Look Up) smartphones are seen as an antithesis of "real life" and "real connections".In our view smartphones are tools that can facilitate real life and real connections and with this short film we try to move the discussion from smartphones to what they represent to their users. This video can be used to promote discussion with children and adults. Here are some sample questions for discussion.- What was the video about?- What did you find interesting?- Did you notice any social issues?- What is irritating about smartphones?- What are benefits of having a smartphone?- Which apps do you use and for what?- What needs are being met by using those apps?
